The sett and weaving of Tartans was written by Mary E. Black, OTR, a well-known weaving authority. She was the Director of The Handcrafts Division of the Department of Trade and Industry for the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada.

The book was originally published by The Lily Mills Company which sold thread, weaving supplies and looms. There is no publication date but it seems to be from the 1940's or 1950's.

The book has 47 pages with color illustrations and a bibliography.
